Disney History from the SourceThe Walt's People series is an oral history of all things Disney, as told by the artists, animators, designers, engineers, and executives who made it happen, from the 1920s through the present.Walt’s People: Volume 1 features appearances by Rudolf Ising, David Hand, Bill Tytla, Ken Anderson, Jack Hannah, John Hench, Marc Davis, Milt Kahl, Harper Goff, and Joyce Carlson.Among the hundreds of stories in this volume: MARC DAVIS explains how he immortalized a studio janitor in Pirates of the Caribbean, and the last words Walt spoke to him. JOHN HENCH gives the foul details of Salvador Dali's quest for a dead swan while Dali worked for Disney, and the ugly outcome. BILL TYTLE reveals the surprising (and very Ukrainian) origin of Mickey Mouse's arch-foe, Chernabog. RUDOLF ISING tells the amusing tale of young Walt Disney's efforts to avoid a debt collector in Kansas City, until finally he couldn't take the guy's mispronounciation of his name any longer. The entertaining, informative stories in every volume of Walt's People will please both Disney scholars and eager fans alike.
